COIMBATORE: The district police have arrested the prime accused in the daylight robbery that took place outside a nationalized bank in Karamadai. They have arrested K Karthick, 23, a native of Trichy. He was remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday. Of the 12lakh that was stolen, the police said they have recovered 7lakh and informed the victim, K Samuel, about it.
As per the police, on Wednesday morning, when they were conducting vehicle checks near Therampalayam in Karamadai, they noticed him getting down from the bus.
"We already had a photograph of him from the CCTV footage secured from the bank," said police officials. So we chased and arrested him. They said that Karthick had completed his ITI training and was a mechanic.
"This is his first offence in this district. But we will check other districts as well," said an official. The police said that the other two accused have also been identified as S Guna, 22 and M Arumugham, 35. "We are looking for them in Trichy and other neighbouring districts. We are hopeful of catching them soon," said police officials. On August 25, three men who came on a motor-cycle snatched 12lakh from K Samuel, a farmer cum realtor who was getting into his car parked 150 metres from the Indian Bank.
