BHILAI: With a view to enhance the city surveillance system, authorities with district police wing have decided to install advanced close circuit television (#CCTV) cameras at nearly 20 important locations across twin cities Bhilai-Durg.
Officials said that the first phase of installation at various strategic locations has already begun on experimental basis. First CCTVs were installed at a square near Surya TI Mall in Bhilai and Malvi Nagar square in Durg. After this, 20 sensitive locations including Khursipar, Kumhari, Chhaoni, Power House, Nehru Nagar, Smriti Nagar, Y-Shape Bridge, Jail Tiraha, Pulgaon Chowk, Station Chowk, Awanti Bai Chowk, Sirsa Gate, Dabrapara Chowk, ACC Chowk and others have been finalized to be equipped with CCTV.
The district police in support with local industrialists and social groups have been jointly carrying out the project and it is likely to be completed by this year.
Durg ASP (city) Rajesh Agrawal told TOI, "Looking into the urgent need to have a network of CCTV cameras in twin-cities, it was decided to install the cameras at important locations, which in turn would help in detection of local crime and traffic offenses.
